Career & background

A career shaped in El Paso courtrooms.

Alex began gaining experience with criminal cases before becoming an attorney, including investigative work involving witness interviews, evidence evaluation, crime scene documentation, and court testimony.

After earning his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 2009 and becoming licensed in Texas in 2013, he developed substantial courtroom experience as a prosecutor and trial attorney. During his career as a prosecutor, he tried nearly 100 jury trials, ranging from assault allegations through serious felony cases, and handled large felony caseloads.

He later served in senior trial and prosecutorial positions, including Principal Attorney for the Border Prosecution Unit (34th Judicial District), where he directed complex investigations and trained prosecutors and law enforcement across multiple Texas judicial districts. His experience also includes government and administrative legal work and teaching Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Law as an adjunct professor.

Today, Alex brings these perspectives to Cuellar Law Firm, representing clients with the preparation and personal attention each case deserves.
